I know there are many hip-hop performers that are not the best lyricists (Gucci, Waka, most of Young Money, etc) now days but with up and coming lyricists like Jay Electronica, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and such, lyrics are starting to come back into fashion. Also with the death of auto tune (no pun intended) it seems that there are a lot less radio friendly songs on albums now days and that’s a good thing in my book.
One of the lesser known up and comers that other hip-hop artists need to pay attention to is Kid Vishis, the younger brother of Detroit’s Royce Da 5’9”. This mixtape comes after a long time of waiting for his loyal fans and it doesn’t disappoint. With 21 tracks he gives us plenty of material to enjoy, and he makes it hard to choose your favorite track. With punch line after punch line Kid Vishis goes hard on this mixtape and shows he can contend with other young and upcoming artists.
