'RED CUP CHRONICLES': CHUCK GOOD's SUCCESSFUL UNIFICATION OF DETROIT HIP HOP

A few weeks back, teamRTF got the chance to kick off the New Year with Chuck Good at his popular 'Red Cup Session' at The Shelter in Detroit.  There isn't much that could be disliked about these events; you get to see up and coming artists from the city perform, meet new people from the area and even get some networking done (in our case).  A lot of the artists that you see posted on R.T.F. made an appearance at the Red Cup Session that took place on January 7th. Yeah, we're kinda late with the post, but beter than never.
First and foremost, we gotta shoutout the homie Chuck Good for putting on for the city with these events.  For a good while, Chuck has been gathering local artists and supporters at venues throughout the city to showcase some of Detroit's underrated music scene.  If you ever happenedto be curious as to what Detroit's actually hip hop scene sounds like, the Red Cup Session is probably the first thing you should consider attending.
At the recent session that we attended, we got to see performances from many names including J. Fin, Big Shan, Jay John Henry, Dusty McFly, CHIP$, Buzz Burrus...just to name a few. If you're from the area, you already know what those names have contributed to the new and upcoming D-Town rap scene.
The homie Danny Brown dropped off a couple of tracks, he's gonna be making an impact on the D musically.  Dude is already being featured on the hottest of sites these days.  Key Wane did a little MCing for the event and kept the people into the show. You all know him from the Finally Famous camp, so that goes to show how popular these events get.  Dusty McFly came out and performed 'I'm Out Here' which had everybody in the buliding rocking.  His fan base in the city is crazy! And if you've ever been to a show where Big Shan was in attendance, then you know that it was pure foolery with him on stage.  When he did his single 'I Love U', you could honestly say that was when the building had the most energy throughout the night. Not a disrespect to any of the other performers, but just because of the fact that damn near everybody knows the song.
One person you can't count out is the homie Chuck, who established this whole 'Red Cup' movement.  People don't realize that this dude is  only 17 years old and he's one of the few out here taking initiative in uniting the Detroit hip hop scene, rather than competing and being selfish by creating a name for himself.  You could honestly testify to the fact that Chuck is vital to the city's music scene because of the fact that he brings everybody together with events such as these.  Like seriously, how many times have you heard of some then popular Detroit artists having a problem with another one?  Not many cases of that; you can thank these Red Cup Sessions for allowing that to be the case.  Unification is a true part of success, and that is what Chuck Good has been doing.  Shoutout to him.

We have a few photos from the event following the break, as well as a few interviews from the artists at the Red Cup Session above (Big Shan, KeY Wane, Danny Brown, Chuck Good). Take some time to peep it out and see for yourself as to what these sessions are about! They talked on some of their current work as well as upcoming projects, the Red Cup session itself and advice to up and coming artists coming out of the city.
