My boy Mikey over at TheMusicFanatic.com has been on his grind this past year in bringing out artists to the spotlight. So while 2010 has been wrapped up in the books, Mikey runs through some of his best prospects that has gone through his website for exposure and gives a little end of the year spotlight list for artists to look out for in 2011...
The Classic, an aspiring hip hop, punk rock group from Metro Detroit, bring blunt induced lyrics laced with inspirational ideals backed by beats that are sure to impress. Not only were they the first artist on TMF they are also leading the way into 2011 with their dope noise. The recently have locked down 3 shows in the month of January. The first being January 7th at the Crofoot. Not only did they get these shows, they also made sure to get other TMF artists on the bill and that is greatly appreciated. The Classic are more than just an artist to us, they’re more like allies in the same fight to free music. The group is made up of a trio going by the stage names Serious Black, Engi and Danger. Their music speaks for itself and with the release of this article we are also excited to say that their second album. The Fear - The Fight - The Fame will be available for free download. Which brings us to Drew32, another artist from Metro Detroit who has been with us since we were just an idea. Drew32 is another artist on the January 7th show at the Crofoot, so make sure you are there to show some love to both The Classic and Drew who’s music has come such a long way over the years. It has been a treat to watch the young musician hone his craft first hand. Drew is one of the hardest working artists I know. His most recent release “Sunrise on Your Dreams”, available free here https://www.themusicfanatic.
Next on the list is BC or Bericcus Ricks who released “Who Am I” in 2010 available free here, https://www.themusicfanatic.
We would also like to thank MurpH, another artist doing a show with The Classic in East Lansing on January 19th at the Hayloft. MurpH has been working on music, but most importantly he has been working on his Blog RespectThisFresh.com along with Byron Parker and others. I got a chance to catch up with MurpH first hand when he was working on one of the next steps of RTF, and all we can say is stay tuned and you’ll stay fresh. Although we can’t wait to hear more music from MurpH we are happy he keeps TMF in mind with his blog RespectThisFresh.com releasing all of our spotlight articles on it as well! Helping our artist’s gain more exposure!
Our growing community is not limited to hip hop or even Michigan. Holding down Mississippi for us is the one and only Gary Lick (Likko) from Villaruse along with Jason Stockton on Bass and Robert Birdsong drums/other. The “Calvary” as I call him of our musical family, always showing up with support and inspiration when times are grimmest making sure to remind us just what and who we are working for. “The Villa” is making a great deal of progress in our private recording / brainstorming space. "Frolic (Camp) Studio" is allowing us all a much needed breath of fresh air. I was fortunate enough to hear a couple tracks and I am even more eager for their long anticipated release. So stay on the look out for their music release and full feature spotlight in 2011.
Unfortunately we don’t have time to update you on all 87 artists, but we have much love for each and everyone of them. Looking to 2011 we are ambitiously working on TMF 2.0 which will bring a whole new look and user experience to our growing community. The few artists that I have been able to share it with have had nothing but praise and we can’t wait to share it with all of you. Sadly it is just to early in the development cycle to get into specifics but they will be coming soon. Before I end this article, I want to make sure to show some love to Cliff Tux, Yung Good and P.J Ford. All of whom have shown tremendous love and support. Cliff who we did an article on, Yung Good and P.J Ford who will be getting theirs in 2011. Not only have my business partners and the artists been great, but I want to make sure to extend a thank you to family and friends and a special shout out to Brad Baerlocher who rocks a TMF shirt more than anyone, except possibly me. Thanks everyone for your love and support and I can’t wait to repay it in 2011! Let’s go.
