MUSIC IN THE SPOTLIGHT-BERICCUS

Bericcus (Bur-Ree-Kiss), his name is almost as unforgettable as his music.Originally going by the name of BC, Bericcus has been seriously honing his craft since his sophomore year of high school. Mr. Ricks, who is now 22 and five years into the rap game, is becoming someone who should be on every record label’s radar. He is creating incredibly smooth rhymes with top-notch music production!

His first mix tape, BC Radio, was released November 23rd, 2007 and
experienced incredible success. Although I was not able to listen
to his original mix tape, I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek on his newest project, “Who Am I”. Keeping with the flavor of east side Detroit, we held this interview in my car on a street corner. I was blown away with his silky smooth flow. It is a polished piece of work with plenty of great tracks.

After listening to his newest project we asked Bericcus who his
musical influences were. Bericcus’s influences read like a rap hall of fame banner. They included Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Biggie, 2 Pac, Fabolous, Joe Budden, and don’t forget Kanye West. We didn’t stop at asking about his influences, we also inquired to whom he would like to work with if given the opportunity. The two names he came up with quickly were Jay-Z and Kanye West. His reasoning was to gain respect and approval from two of music industry’s juggernauts. We feel with BC hard on his grind these dreams could be realities in the near future.

Unfortunately, we were only able to get a quick interview with Bericcus at the time he was currently working on “Who Am I”, and tearing him away from the studio was rather difficult. However, Bericcuss’ hard work is paying off. He has raw talent with an unstoppable drive to improve with each music release on his way to the top. Listening to “Who Am I” is truly a treat. We know you will agree. With this release Bericcus has truly found his
sound mixing lyrical prowess with elegant beats. He is sure
to come to a radio near you as he is gaining momentum in the Rap / Hip Hop scene in Detroit.
