Ok enough sentimental shit...I have some thoughts I would like to discuss on 2PAC the (debatable) greatest rapper of all time. I have seen numerous top 5's and top 10's where he's without question the top pick everytime. I have my own views on him and what he's done for the rap game. I also have my own thoughts on where his place will forever remain as hip-hop royalty. I've posted a few questions for ya'll that I would love to see answered. I'm going to put my own answers, but I would love to see yours as these may prove quite thought provoking.
Think about the top rappers out right now...now that you've got them think about this...
•If 2PAC was still alive would he be worshiped and praised the way he is now or would he be another "old rapper?"
Almost every "rap critic" swears there's an age limit on rappers and when they should stop rapping. Pac would be 40 next year and all the people telling Jay to give it up would probably be telling him the same thing. I dare any of them to say they wouldn't, because age seems to be the primary factor in determining if you should still be rapping. Before you go thinking I'm comparing Jay to Pac, I'm not, but I just want you to think while you're sucking his meat on every "top" whatever, to think about where exactly would he be considered if he hadn't died in TODAY'S hip-hop scene.
•All the rappers who praise PAC would he even fuck with you niggas?
Think long and hard about this. Now I'll answer it for you, hell to the no. All, or at least most, rappers who praise him and say they looked up to him are the same ones making the most bullshit. I don't think he would make any songs with "the number one certified goon" what an insult, for real. What about 50cent, yea sure he came out swinging, but then went out singing, smh. Besides you let C.O. Ross pull your card in a rap beef, all them gimmicks couldn't beat good music, what a mark. What about Lil Wayne? Maybe pre-Carter III Wayne, but damn sure not the Martian wherever the fuck he came from. That auto-tuned gibberish speaking retard would get shit on by Pac just like Eminem continuously does on every song, lol.
Speaking of Eminem...this question was brought up to me by one of my peers...
•If 2PAC was alive would Em be any competition or be better than him?
Lyrically and word mashing and different concepts, yea I think Em got it. Making songs that are timeless if not ahead of their time, and to this day are more prevalent then Em's whole catalog, yea Pac got it. However, I do think its apples and oranges cause look at the 2 different spectrums, Em shitted on his moms, Pac loved his. Em went at pop stars and people who were irrelevant to the hip-hop world, Pac went at a whole coast's throat and didn't give no fuck about it. See where I'm going with this? Next...
Now you may ask, "B, who would he do songs with?"
I'd be happy to answer that...here's my honest opinion:
1. Lupe Fiasco, dude have you heard BMF (Building Minds Faster)? Dude is the truth and songs like that need to be heard loud and clear.
2. Jeezy, while many may not think he's lyrical, many say Pac wasn't either, but honestly that Recession album put Jeezy in another category then what's out now i.e., calling out the Recession before any politician claimed it was actually a recession. (timeless material).
3. Mos Def, Kanye West, and whether ya'll like it or not Z-Ro. I say Mos because I think some of his vocals on a inspirational 2PAC track would be epic. I say 'Ye because that dude is undeniable and I just think 'Ye wouldn't give up til he had the perfect track with 2PAC. Last, I say Z-ro because just the struggle he speaks on songs, tracks, albums, etc. is perfectly prepared for some PAC presence...real talk.
Aight ya'll I'm out this thang, until next time
"THAT'S WHY I ______ YO _____ YOU FAT MOTHER______" <--- one of my favorite quotables.
And I'm off this thang in t-minus 1...holla
