It's been just a little bit over one year since the murder of rapper Dolla and the trial for the murder started a few weeks ago. Yesterday was a significant day for the suspect and the family of Dolla...
The May 18th, 2009 shooting of Dolla was questioned all over because some didn't know the motive behind it; whether it was self defense or it was just an all out shooting.
Yesterday, the jury for the murder trial came to a conclusion to acquit the defendant, Aubrey Berry of all murder charges. This comes after 9 days of testimony and 2 days of decision making.
Berry admitted that he got in an altercation with the rapper a week or so prior to the shooting incident that occurred last May at the Beverly Center in L.A.
Berry claimed that he saw threatening lyrics and clips of Dolla and his crew bragging about 'assaulting' another individual. The defendant had a permit to carry his firearm but he said he didn't realize that it was unauthorized in the state if California. A week later after the original altercation between Berry and Dolla, Berry stated that Dolla threatened to kill him in another encounter at the Beverly Center.
Dolla was shot three times in the back after trying to run from Berry's shooting and died shortly after.
The decision of the jurors may have been based upon Dolla's rap lyrics, according to Deputy District Attorney Bobby Grace.
