Frank Lucas' wife was taken into custody on Wednesday in San Juan, Puerto Rico after she go caught selling to kilograms of cocaine to an informant at a hotel. Julianna Farrait who is 70 years old was being wire-tapped on May 11th when she informed the snitch that she was possessing to keys of coke that was available for sale. She also told the informant that there were another eight keys she needed to get rid of.
In attempt to sell the two kilos to the informant, she set up another meeting in the Isla Verde and mad the transaction. Once that went down, DEA agents ran into the hotel room and took Farrait into custody
Farrait set up a second meeting in the Isla Verde and attempted to sell the two kilos to the informant. After the transaction, DEA agents raided the hotel room and took the woman into custody.
According to reports, Farrait has been under the radar since February of 2009, which means she's been putting in some serious work for a 70 year old to be tracked as hard as she was. The irony in this is that her character in Denzel Washington's American Gangster film was played by a Puerto Rican actress.
For now, she is being charged with conspiracy to violate narcotics law and she's yet to enter a plea deal.
